See, what had happened was...

I have to admit, almost any amount of work can be avoided to watch pretty people receive accolades for altering our perception of the world just a little.

It's been tough for me to continue progress toward my goal of simplifying my life and doing less when I'm reminded of talented people whose own goals necessitated working harder, smarter and longer rather than less.

Dammit.

Jon Stewart was hosting, and that was enough excuse for me to watch nearly all of it, even when the foreigners were on. I'm scared of people with accents - including my parents and entire extended family.

The only 'Best Film' I've seen so far is "Juno," so now I'm anxious to see "No Country For Tommy Lee Jones" and "There Will Be Old-Timey Oil."

You may know better why, but did Joel and Ethan Coen seem almost bored with their Best Director and Best Picture wins? Like the expected it coming, and the announcement was just a formality?

Two words about the Oscars:

Gaydolf Titler.

Jenn - the Coens are always like that. See the interview with them on "The Big Lebowski" DVD. They are very much people stuck in their own head and not concerned with what people think or whether they themselves are media-friendly. They want to tell stories. Period.

I'm not entirely sure the Coens care about awards of any kind, even the Oscar. Their producer sure did, though.

Thanks Dave. Now for another idiotic question...are they related to Sasha Baron of Borat fame?
